Book Review: Let My People Go Surfing

I can honestly say that I do not recall the last time I wrote a book report! A friend of mine, and one of a select few people in my life that I truly find fascinating and could listen to his stories for hours on end, recommended this book to me the last time we met and I have to say, I can’t put it down.

My first year of fatherhood

I have just completed my first year of fatherhood! My daughter Kirra Louise Peace was born on July 4th 2008 and we celebrated her first birthday with a bang. I know what you’re thinking. Why would you have your baby on Independence Day? We did all we could to avoid it but in the [...]

Print tour + Liquid lunch = Much discussion about twins

Last Thursday the ladies of Design Lab hit the road for Aurora. Destination? The AIIM printing house, for a tour of their facilities. Luckily, Alexia was driving or else MC would have driven us to Ancaster.
AIIM, which stands for Avant Imaging and Information Management, prints the lottery brochures and print material for one of our [...]

The Cottage Weekend

I’m not one of the lucky ones to own a property up North where I can escape from May until the beginning of October. But I am lucky enough to have friends that offer to host weekend after weekend.
Every other weekend it seems like I am heading to a cottage (between my many wedding obligations). [...]

Jocz identified patterns in consumer and company behavior during a recession and how this affects market performance.  They argue that understanding consumers’ changing habits will enable companies to hone their strategies so they can safely charter these unstable [...]

Office Hullabaloo

Like any office filled with creative minds you’re on the front lines of the incredible work that they produce. However, it’s also a large window into the soul of a functional insane asylum.
Right now our triple threat of designing women are hard at work on London Dream Lottery (98% sold out, get your tickets now!) [...]

Habitat for Humanity Toronto’s Women Build

On Saturday May 2, 2009 I had the honour of joining hundreds of women – and the odd man – at the Habitat for Humanity Toronto’s Women Build near Morningside and Lawrence (Scarborough, Ontario).  It was my first experience with Habitat and it will definitely not be my last!
Women Build is about building homes, with [...]

Pre-FITC: it’s almost here!

Ok, I admit I’m one of those people—I’m still using AS2! So to lessen my pain of converting to AS3, I’m going to attend FITC’s Get Off Your Ass and Start Using AS3 Already! presentation. Thankfully they’re providing source files so that I can copy and paste to my heart’s content. I’m kidding… I WILL [...]
